Sales of pictures and craftwork at this year’s Art in the Box have boosted funds for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) by an amazing £1750, beating last year’s total by a wonderful £250.00.
And sponsors of Art in the Box Harris and Clarke along with organiser Debbie Skinner took the opportunity to hand over a cheque for £1750 to delighted Regional Fund Raiser for RABI Milly Wastie. “What a terrific event Art in the Box was this year, not only did it successfully exceed last year’s fund raising target, but a record number of pictures were also sold, which is great considering the number of days Art in the Box was actually open were reduced from seven to five days this year.”
Debbie Skinner added : “To sell around 30 pieces of artwork is a fantastic total and is incredibly satisfying especially for our talented band of local artists who have continuously supported Art in the Box. The generosity of two artists Eileen Gascoigne and Colin Bywater who both donated pictures for the raffle contributed significantly to this year’s total too, so a big thank you to them.”
The original idea behind Art in the Box was to encourage local farmers to clear out stables or loose boxes and transform them into miniature art galleries to exhibit artwork by local artists and at the same time raise money for RABI. It is the third consecutive year that the event has been held at Pastures Farm and the good news is that RABI are now planning for Art in the Box to be held at an alternative rural venue in Northamptonshire next year.
Richard Clarke of agricultural accountants Harris and Clarke said; “ We always like to get involved in supporting rural events, and we are delighted that this year’s Art in the Box was the most successful to date. The art exhibition has now established itself as a successful annual event for local artists, and we are extremely pleased to have been associated with it for the first time this year.”
To date Art in the Box has raised £4,450 for RABI.
