We had a real treat yesterday morning when we were making our way up the drive. Not only were we lucky enough to see one family of dear little french partridge but two! Both broods were obviously on a family outing and were absolutely gorgeous to watch. We counted 9 chicks the size of conkers in each family, and whilst their parents were incredibly vigilant and protective they were clearly encouraging them to explore their surroundings - it was a wonderful sight and one that makes us realise how lucky we are to live in the middle of the countryside.
They are such vulnerable little things, lets hope they stay safe.
