We have added an exciting new course to our 2011 events calendar that is certain to appeal to dog owners. On Saturday 19th March we will be hosting a one day basic working gun dog workshop when both dogs and their owners will be able to find out whether they can work in harmony together and if not, where they are going wrong.
Under the guidance of gun dog training enthusiast, Ian Marshall the day will kick off with a Group Q & A session covering topics from dog expectation and discipline, through to home life and which breed of dog suits what work. Straight after the brief introduction, the basic training instruction will get underway when both owners and dogs will learn about whistle and hand commands as well as dummies.
After a homemade lunch it will be back to work outside by the lake where you will learn how to get your dog to heel, stop and retrieve to hand. There will be a demonstration on using dummies after which you will have the opportunity to try out hand held dummy launchers as well as remote dummy launchers. The day will end with a session in the lake (just dogs!) giving you the opportunity to discover whether your dog is water shy or not!
Numbers are limited to 10 and the day will cost £70 which includes a starter pack and all refreshments. If you are interested in this course, please do get in touch as soon as possible. d.skinner@btinternet.com
