The weeks of agonising, worrying and organising, finally paid off with a hugely successful debut for Art in the Box. As has already been written, the idea behind Art in the Box is to try and encourage farmers up and down the country to clear out an old stable, loose box of storage space and turn it into a miniature art gallery exhibiting work by local artists, whether they are professional or amateur or even art students. Being a brand new idea, Art in the Box was piloted here at Pastures Farm from 1st - 8th July, featuring a variety of exhibits in a range of mediums, the selection that we had on show was not only varied but of a really high standard too. Visitors to Art in the Box all commented about how impressed they were with the standard! The whole Art in the Box experience has been a really enjoyable learning curve, we have met some lovely artists, as well as some fabulous people who are just enthusiastic about art.
Anyway, during the week we managed to sell eleven pictures which was brilliant, and at the same time, thanks to the champagne preview, and the 20% commission from the artists, we managed to raise £1200 for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution RABI, so it was a win, win project.
Art in the Box will certainly return next year - a date has already been put in our farm diary - 30th June - 7th July inclusive. Hopefully we will be able to have a bigger and better preview, which should generate greater interest. If you are interested in exhibiting, then please email and we will make sure there is some space. To check out some of the work please look at the gallery section of the website.
